Gym

So this week I joined a gym, just me, not Jeff.  I joined 24 Hour Fitness, and went last night for the first time.  It was good.

We have a small workout center at our apartment complex but it is almost too close to home for motivation.  I need a bigger motivation with more people to make me push myself.  Another problem is that I can too easily stop and go back home while at a gym there is driving and more thought involved.  The gym is also on my way home from work so I can stop by after work instead of coming home first then going to workout, which rarely happens if I come home first.

So hopefully this will help my keep on track with my resolutions.  Maybe run a race of some sort this summer.  I am excited to take some classes, like spinning.  Also it may be nice to save some money and try a personal trainer for a bit.

I will see how it goes,

Parents Weekend

This past weekend my parents came out for a visit. We didn't do a whole lot but it was still nice.

Saturday we got up to meet them for breakfast (they stayed Friday night in Colorado Springs).  Then headed back to the apartment to drop Jeff off, since he had to go to work.
My parents and I the proceeded to go to a wine tasting at a winery close to us.  It is the Balistreri Vineyards.  Most of their wines are made from Colorado grapes with some from California.  They were pretty decent wines but the best part was the owners, they were very nice and informative about everything.  They also have their wines available at Il Posto, our favorite restaurant.
After that we drove to Lookout Mountain but it was very windy and cold so we didn't stay long.

To the West

To the East
We had lunch in Morrison and then stopped by the VC to see Jeffy.
That night we had sushi and Blue Fin a place very close by and has really good sushi.

Sunday we woke up at a decent time to go to Rocky Mountain National Park.  We stopped in Boulder for breakfast at The Buffs Restaurant, it was really good. We then drove around the park.  It was also very cold and windy there.

Then we came back and had lunch at the Berkshire while watching football.
Came home and made some side dishes for dinner with the Howarths.

Monday Jeff and the parents went to Snooze for breakfast while I was at work.  And then they went back to Kansas City.

It was good having them for a few days.  My mom will be back in April for Taylor Swift!

Loveland

So yesterday we headed to Loveland Pass for the first time to hit some slopes.  It was a great place to go skiing.  We agreed that so far Loveland and Eldora have been our favorites and we may get a season pass to one of these places next season.

Loveland was great because they had long good runs that were easy for me but steep enough for Jeff. Christine and Ryan also joined us since they are currently visiting us. The weather was wonderful, it was in the low thirties and it felt great!

I can't believe this is our third time going this season, it is great being so close to the mountains.

I am still trying to improve on the snowboard.  Hopefully by the end of the season I will be better.
Yesterday on my last run I fell pretty hard getting on the lift.  I think my tailbone is a bit bruised by how it feels.  I also had some other nasty falls near the end so my neck and shoulders are sore too.  But nothing too bad, nothing to stop my from boarding.

Here are some pictures:

Gorgeous day, not a cloud in the sky.

New Year's Resolution?

I guess I have decided to try and stick to some resolutions this year.

1. Working out/getting in shape.  I am not going all out or anything but I have created a monthly calendar of doing something everyday, lifting, yoga dvds, or running.  So far I have been good about sticking to it, but we will see how it goes.  I hope to change it a little every month and add in hiking once the weather is nicer.

2. Be craftier.  I want to learn how to sew- signed up for a class in a month and will have a sewing machine here this week.  I want to re-learn how to knit, have yet to sign up for a class but plan to do so soon.  Buy a better camera in order to start taking better photos.  Paint, draw, write, etc.

3. Eat better.  We eat pretty well but I need to try and stay from the sweets a little better and make sure to stay away from boxed meals.  We aren't that bad with these but I feel we could be better.

Hopefully I will be able to keep this throughout the year, but we shall see.

Winter Squash

Lately, we have been all about the squash, but why not be when it is so good and easy to make.  Usually we just cut it in half and put it in the oven for an hour and then sometimes add butter and spices depending on the mood.

Here are some recent meals we have made with squash.

Tofu macaroni and cheese, green beans, and delicata squash.

Pasta with tomato cream sauce, butternut squash and salad.

Eldora

On New Year's Day, since we both had the day off, we went to Eldora Ski area.  This is west of Boulder and it a bit smaller than other areas.  But it was still very nice and had plenty of runs. It is in a very pretty area, it helps that not a lot is built up around it.

I continued to practice snowboarding and I did pretty well, I can go down a green without falling which is good.

Here are some pictures from the day.
